haha! i actually like this. short and fun. just like comic sans! hahaha!
well personally being an average typo-phile, i don’t use comic sans. not to an extend as in to actually ‘ban’ comic sans. i love type. all type is useful(?) dunno a right word to say it…but yea.
i think for type, if one can actually use it for a right purpose and deliver a message, it’s good enough. it’s a default font for every user to use for a friendlier message. as seen in every image in the documentary, comic sans is like the one type tht’s friendly enough to say hi to everyone. don’t judge comic sans with a designer point of view nor any other aesthetic point of view. sometimes people just have tht home computer to create and print! not everyone has a adobe program… i’m sure it looks better than handwritten type! (though personally i love hand typography. so unique and tasteful. but tht’s just me being a typo-phile. or i just have bad handwriting so i admire others…*hehe*)
i actually like the part where comic sans replace the type in products or well-known typefaces. it sorta proves comic sans is indeed a ‘friendly everyday-face’ tht is ok to be seen on regularly consume beverages, but not on well branded products. tht is also one thing to show how successful a powerful product branding can influence consumer–Absolute Vodka. uff. tht branding is STRONG.
my point of view, comic sans is friendly to use, but it ABSOLUTELY doesn’t have a character to it, AT ALL. it’s just so, NORMAL.
with today’s society tht is highly influence and well aware of design through the various branding campaign all across the globe in every single little thing, we probably tend to want to ‘belong’ to one of the ‘brand’. we wanna put ourselves into the category, hence, we are aware of the message of, ‘comic sans is bad typography’ so we are not going there, we don’t like it as well. i mean i’m sure when comic sans first came out, there is definitely a ‘hype’ to it. as everything does. like for mac/apple. where was it before? oh the apple in rainbow color! but NOW with clever branding, it’s EVERYONE’S favorite.
branding is the key to get attention, to get recognition, to get love. so, maybe comic sans just needs to brand itself better!!!? *shrug*
….i’m just saying.
